Wednesdays in LentEach Wednesday in Lent, beginning Feb. 20, Br. Brian Freese and Bill Alworth will lead a Lenten study immediately following the Wednesday Eucharist and Healing Service (7pm). The time will begin with a soup dinner and fellowship in the Education building, followed by the study and discussion.
Our Wednesday evening Lenten program will consider Christian discipleship and examine how this understanding of our faith can become a method for living fully into our Baptismal covenant. Using “Daily Practices for God’s People”, a program of study produced by the Episcopal Diocese of Western North Carolina, we will consider living intentionally in our journeys of faith and the astounding grace that Christian virtues bring into our lives. We’ll consider three aspects of our journeys of faith: our journey outward, our journey inward and our journey together. The journey inward is our personal relationship with God in Christ through the Holy Spirit. It is the cultivation of our connection with God and includes many of the virtues we associate with spirituality. The journey outward is our service to our sisters and brothers in the world. This is our outreach to all of God’s children. The journey together is the life of our community. The virtues we’ll explore are what enable a community of faith to flourish. Lent offers us opportunity for self-reflection, prayerful contemplation and spiritual growth. Our exploration together of Christian discipleship can be a valuable pathway to provide focus in those opportunities. May you be blessed. If you are interested in attending, please email Bill or Brian @ wilo59@charter.net or friarbrianpaul@gmail.com so they know how many to make soup for! Childcare can be arranged, if needed. Please let Bill or Br. Brian know. |
