Until very recently she was the rector of Trinity Lime Rock Episcopal Church in Lakeville, Connecticut. Beth Long was born overseas, but grew up an Episcopalian in Maryland. She obtained her bachelor's and master's degrees at the University of Toronto where she joined the Roman Catholic Church and spent the years subsequent to graduation with the Sisters of Our Lady of Sion, an order devoted to outreach, teaching, and the study of the Jewish roots of Christianity. She returned to the Episcopal Church in 1986, attended Virginia Theological Seminary, and was ordained a priest in 1992. Before becoming the rector of Trinity Lime Rock in 1999, a beautiful and historic church in rural northwest Connecticut, she was the vicar (rector in Diocese of Atlanta terminology) of St. John's Church in Ashfield, Massachusetts. Beth is married to Bill Burgower, a Texas native who retired from his position in a New York publishing firm to assume his true identity as fanatical college football fan. Bill is a non-observant Jew with a very strong interest in Eastern religions and he is immensely and actively supportive of Beth's ministry. She has three step-children with Bill and, through them, two grandchildren. Beth's deep spirituality, inspiring preaching, long-time commitment to outreach, and infectious sense of humor have earned her the enthusiastic and overwhelming support of our parish.
We are very pleased to announce that Thomas Dunbar
has already started as St. Gregory’s Youth Coordinator.
A lot of our youth have already gotten to know Thomas
at Camp Mikell; he has been on summer staff there for
several years. One of Thomas’ major roles will be to
plan and lead Youth Group activities on the 1st and 3rd
Sunday evenings of most months.
