Wade McGlamery, Youth Minister

After making the move to Athens from his hometown of McDonough, Georgia, Wade began the search for a spiritual home in his new community. Growing up as a Southern Baptist, he was not very familiar with the Episocpal church, but he was immediately drawn to St Gregory’s after attending his first service in August of 2021. The welcoming, yet low pressure, atmosphere, the openness to different ways of believing and being, and the emphasis on digging deeper and exercising reason while exploring your faith all told him that he had found the home he was searching for.

After years of planning, leading, and teaching for youth in nonprofit organizations, as well as working with at-risk youth, in his hometown Wade was glad to take on the task of leading the youth program here at St Gregory the Great. He is excited to be bringing the program back to full strength following the COVID-19 pandemic and appreciates all of the willing volunteers from this congregation for their help and advice.

Wade will also be leading our 20’s and 30’s group, the “Blindspot.” He is incredibly eager to work with other Gregorians in his age group to create a program that meets their particular personal and spiritual needs.

While not in church, Wade enjoys both producing and consuming live theatre, nursing whatever his most recent television obsession happens to be, reading, and finding opportunities to spend time with his friends and family.
